Jenna C. - 16618 Title Artist from Toronto

About

I graduated from York University with a Bachelor of Fine Arts, Visual Art and Art History which allowed me the opportunities to work with and in several galleries (Gallery 1313, Arta Gallery, Art Gallery of York University, and Gales Gallery), helping with community and client communications, developing and installing events and exhibitions, event coordination, and creating content for social media. My work with the Visual Arts Student Association (VASA) allowed me to gain experience as a Program Director; this was a public relations role where I was responsible for: proposing and booking events, communicating with the other art associations at York University, relationship building, event scheduling and engaging with the student body. I supported the VASA with their social media marketing through a variety of media platforms including Instagram, Twitter, and Facebook. I was responsible for collaborating with external companies and galleries and initiated future event proposals for York University. This experience assures me that the role of Title Artist would allow me to thrive for the goals of Geolance. I most recently worked at Arta Gallery as a Gallery Assistant and Exhibition Coordinator. In this role I have learned how to work in a fast-paced environment while completing a variety of tasks simultaneously, such as: gallery maintenance, filing important documents (art intake/inventory forms, invoices, and daily settlements), and implementing storage systems to ensure more accessibility and efficiency in the gallery. I also assisted with art sales, curating exhibitions, and daily content creation for Instagram. I have been praised for my attention for detail, independence, and my ability to approach work with enthusiasm. In addition to Arta, I also held the position of Curator with The Artist-Run Centres and Collectives (ARCA). In this position, I have gained valuable professional skills including team communication, strong organization, research skills, and problem solving. I designed and edited several graphical projects for ARCA’s graphics with attention to colour theory and typography. These projects included zines, toolkits, social media, and the role of project lead for the first Virtual Coffee House live event ACRA hosted. In this role, I worked with and interviewed several gallery directors and artists to collect information on what artist-run centres meant to them and how they believe ARCA could be more involved in the art world. Working with these organizations provides me with the confidence to uphold all aspects of the job description. I value having a strong work ethic, taking initiative and continuously learning. Whether working on academic, extracurricular, or professional projects, I apply proven creative thinking, leadership skills, and I approach all tasks with excellence. Learning from my past experience, I have the passion and confidence to fill this role up to the standards that Geolance is striving for. Thank you for your time and consideration of my application. I look forward to talking with you soon.
