Dear Hiring Manager at Geolance, I am a Masters graduate, based in Toronto, seeking remote employment. In 2015 I graduated from the University of St Andrews, Scotland in Film Studies and Spanish joint honours. I furthered my study of entertainment media at the University of Glasgow with a Film and Television Studies Master of Letters, completed in 2017. Over the past few years, I have honed my communication and writing skills through my professional experiences. As a Writer and Researcher for QC Career School, I created online courses for their international students. I researched potential course content online, created course outlines, and wrote books covering the relevant topics. I also created quizzes and assignments for students in a user-friendly format and writing style. I was also responsible for fact-checking course content and worked with other departments to ensure the creation of popular courses. Most recently, I worked for Keywords Studios as a Quality Assurance Tester for English and Spanish in a variety of high profile games. While thoroughly checking written and aural content on different platforms, I became comfortable with user experience and production language, and using new software, including Jira and Confluence. Working remotely as part of an international team - at times across different timezones - we caught grammatical, stylistic, and typing errors in new games and builds. I was also tasked with writing clear and consistent bug reports to flag user-centred issues, such as text visibility, cutoffs, and other errors affecting gameplay. Consequently, I am well-versed in hitting milestones and tight deadlines with an attention to detail to ensure the creation of high quality content.
