I have a Master’s degree in Economics with deep investment banking, venture capital investing and climate finance experience. I have been actively involved in identifying and appraising impact investment opportunities, structuring and arranging equity, debt capital and mezzanine finance instruments, transaction advisory (commercial viability assessment and investment appraisal) to promoters of renewable energy, Energy Access projects. I have also been actively involved in deal origination by leveraging networking relationships with start-up founders and project developers to identify, structure and successfully close investment deals. More specifically, in my current role at Shell All On, I provide investment decision support by building financial models to assess the financial and commercial viability of investment proposals (whilst sensitizing for various operating scenarios). I also conduct risk assessment and develop effective risk allocation structures to ensure bankability of angel stage and growth stage financing rounds for companies operating within the off-grid renewable energy sector. Over the last 28 months, I have successfully identified, structured, negotiated and closed up to 12 venture capital deals with a cumulative investment value of over US$3mn. Additionally, my current role entails providing best-in-class portfolio management to Shell All On’s investee companies. I also provide business development and advisory support as well as actively participate in board meetings alongside co-investors to steer investee companies on the path of sustainable growth. I also co-developed the Shell Nigeria Power Strategy where I reviewed Shell’s current and aspired position across different power value chains and scoped out business opportunities, attendant risks in the on-grid/off-grid power generation that are accessible to Shell and recommended strategic pathways to commercially realise Shell’s ambition in the Nigeria Power Sector.
