First and foremost, I recently worked with the Canadian Olympic Committee covering the Beijing 2022 Winter Games. As a content contributor, I was given the chance to put my social media savviness to good use. This job included writing quick-witted copy for Instagram, TikTok, Twitter, Facebook, and WordPress, as well as interacting with fans in a fast-paced virtual environment. This challenged me to manage multiple social media platforms at once, as well as coordinate virtually with colleagues. From this experience, I learned a ton about digital communication, social media marketing, and building social audiences. I cannot wait for an opportunity to put these skills to work again. As for education, I found my footing as a writer and editor during my years studying journalism in Canada’s capital. As a member of the LGBTQ+ community, I have spent a great amount of my time researching and writing stories about under-represented communities. Carleton’s Journalism program has also exposed me to digital, print, audio and video platforms. Through conducting weekly interviews and planning local press material, I have taught myself to learn new skills quickly, and to always keep a positive attitude while under pressure. Throughout this program, I have built strategic communication skills that have prepared me to take on new challenges with confidence and intellect. Finally, I have always been extremely passionate about reading, writing and grammar. Recently, I’ve been trying out different video formats on TikTok to learn more about its algorithm. With all of life’s ups and downs, keeping up with social media trends and culture is something I’ve always enjoyed doing. Finally, I live in Stouffville, and would be willing to commute to Toronto for this position as needed.
