I am excited to apply for the Public Affairs Officer Position. You will find my extensive work experience as a policy analyst with the Ministry of Children, Community and Social Services (MCCSS) and volunteer experience with non-for-profit organizations has contributed to my knowledge base around diversity and equity issues and implementation. As a Master of Public Service graduate from the University of Waterloo, I have developed strong economic analysis skills; sound research capabilities; the ability to collect, interpret and effectively present complex data and findings; improved my proficiency in policy analysis, and advance my existing communications skills. I am keen to apply my knowledge and experience of delivering Employment Ontario programming while working to support and enhance stakeholder relationships. However, I would like to highlight some key strengths: • Excellent research and data analysis skills acquired through working on equity file at MCCSS • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to identify issues and trends pertaining to program delivery as exemplified through experience as a job developer and board member • Leadership and teamwork skills acquired while working with youth in multiple work positions, along with developing communication materials and promoting Employment Ontario programs • Superior ability to liaise with members of the community and develop stakeholder relations while cultivating employment opportunities for vulnerable clients • Exceptional experience in oral and written communication, developed through delivering presentations, reports, stakeholder analysis, and briefing notes in both work and academic settings As a policy analyst at MCCSS, a core focus of my work has been to develop policies around equity, diversity, and inclusion. At the early stages of this work, I have established and lead community engagement sessions with marginalized groups. Holing sessions with the Francophone, LGBT2SQ, Black, Disability, Muslim, and Racialized communities to develop a better understanding of gaps that exist in current policies and programs. Feedback from these consultations is currently being used to develop a more equitable, diverse, and inclusive Child Welfare model. In closing, I am passionate about working and contributing to the development of communities and society. I have a keen interest in government policy development and implementation contributing to the overall wellbeing of citizens. My experience with building strong community partnerships and supporting government programs will ensure I am able to work effectively in the position. Additionally, having led teams of 10 staff, I have strong project management skills which have further been developed by a project management and leadership course during my academic career this makes me a great candidate for the position.
