Keren B. - 17897 Legal Advocate from King City
About
My name is Keren Barak and I am a licensed paralegal with a Graduate Certificate from Humber College. Upon completion of the program, I was an intern at Lang Lawyers and dealt with Personal Injury Law and Medical Malpractice. My responsibilities included conducting legal research, drafting legal documents, conducting in-take meetings, and requesting medical records. I believe working at your firm will be an excellent opportunity for me and I will prove to be an amazing asset if you will consider me as a candidate.
Throughout my career I have learned to persevere amidst immense competition. While in elementary and secondary school, I was praised by my teachers and peers for a proficiency in language and public speaking. I enrolled into York University at the age of 16 while maintaining a part-time job as a dance instructor. While completing my Bachelor of Arts degree, I took several law courses including Public Law, Law and Morality, and Socio-Legal Studies. My written work was praised by one of my professors. My performance training and experience, including a course on voice and speech, has proven to be an asset in advocacy and client communication. I also participated as a volunteer witness for a mock cross-examination by Osgoode Hall Law School’s students.
Before graduating University in 2016, I founded Love 2 Dance Studio registered in the City of Vaughan. I gained significant experience in marketing campaigns, website design, successful client registration and development of programs and curricula. As the owner I managed all of the client relations, coordinated schedules and led training. I also handled my business’s finances and bookkeeping, and ensured client satisfaction.
In Humber College’s intense accelerated program, I have studied Legal Research, becoming well acquainted with LexisNexis, WestLaw, and CanLII. I have also expanded my proficiency in using Microsoft Word and Excel. My studies also included courses on the procedure and practice at the Small Claims Court, Employment Law (WSIB), Advocacy, ADR, Ethics and the Landlord and Tenant Board. During my studies, I excelled in Legal Writing, which included drafting affidavits, claims, motions, opinion letters, memorandums, and facta. I also finished with grades above 90 in Legal Accounting and Criminal Law.
I am a resourceful, hard-working and highly ethical professional. I am open-minded and take direction very well. I will eagerly learn from my superiors and would enjoy contributing to the success of your firm in any related capacity. Please consider me as a candidate for the Paralegal position and I will prove to be an irreplaceable asset.
