Thomas L. - 19513 Dialogue Writer from Floral Park

About

To Whom It May Concern: I am writing to you concerning the Writer position. I have a strong interest in working for Geolance and would greatly appreciate being considered as a candidate for employment. I have previous experience in writing, editing, and proofreading. In October 2019, my first novel, Far from All Else, was published by Austin Macauley Publishers. In addition to writing, I edited and proofread various drafts until the final manuscript was completed and ready for publication. Working with the editors and editorial assistants, I kept to a tight schedule in order to maintain a productive timeline. For over two years, I have been working as a personal assistant to psychologist and published author, Dr. Roger Pierangelo. This experience has allowed me to further hone my writing and editing skills. Line by line, I have to edit and proofread his writings which range from psychology-based articles to textbook chapters to fiction. My responsibilities also include researching book publishers and agents most suitable for his particular submissions and composing tailored query letters and proposals for various projects. In this role, I’ve built expertise in conveying complex information in an understandable and pithy manner. Recently, I have also been working as a non-fiction ghostwriter for the Urban Writers. In this role, I communicate directly with customers regarding their manuscripts in order to fully understand what they want their project to look like. I create outlines detailing the overview of each chapter so customers are comfortable with what the manuscript will cover. I then extrapolate on the ideas presented in our conversations and the outline, forming a full manuscript ranging from 10,000 words to 30,000 words within tight deadlines. I have built expertise on how to write quickly and efficiently regarding the subject matter set forth by the customer. I’ve also further learned how to work with various editors in order to submit a polished, error-free manuscript. Additionally, I have interpersonal skills stemming from my prior experiences as a waiter, delivery driver, and substitute teacher. I have learned how to effectively communicate with others whether it be in-person, by phone, through Zoom, or over email. I consider myself an organized and communicative person who is capable of understanding and presenting information cogently. My resume will accompany this cover letter. I hope it will be helpful in evaluating my qualifications for this position. Please feel free to contact me at your earliest convenience to arrange an interview. Thank you for your time and consideration. Sincerely, Thomas Lally
