Alfred K. - 16575 Scientific Writer from Richmond

About

I have recently completed my Master of Science (MSc) degree from the University of Guelph, where I gained valuable experience in biostatistics and project development. I was able to develop my own thesis project which required a great deal of literature review and creating different research questions, but ultimately the process gave me a great understanding of my research hypothesis and the associated knowledge gaps. During my MSc, I had the opportunity to publish a literature review and have published two original research publications in the Journal of Food Protection and Frontiers in Microbiology. I also have been a part of a publication published in the American Society for Microbiology. I continued to develop my communication, critical thinking, problem-solving, writing, and data analysis skills. I believe that my skill sets and willingness to learn would be a great asset to the organization, as I have successfully self-learned several statistical programming languages during my MSc and I have experience publishing literature review and original research. I have 6+ years of experience in research and analyzing and interpreting data within the life sciences in addition to 2+ years within a leadership role where I supervised students and new employees in a scientific environment. I am very much looking forward to contributing my skills and knowledge to Geolance while learning new techniques to improve upon my skill sets. Highlights of my experience and skills include the following: • Published a literature review and several original research papers, for which some I designed the experiment and collected and analyzed the data before writing the draft manuscripts; • Experience in sophisticated analytical tools, statistics, and data visualization for processing bioinformatics data by using uni- and multi-variate statistical analyses in R, SAS, and some Python; • Experience in managing, collating, and analyzing large datasets and databases from bioinformatics-based research obtained during my MSc; • Well-versed in analytics, problem solving, time management and organization from years of professional and academic experiences; and • A fast-learner and an independent, meticulous, and focused individual who is accustomed to meeting deadlines and has proven to be successful in working in any situation.
