With a background including having worked in communications in the Office of the Premier of Ontario, having written speeches for Prime Minister Stephen Harper in addition to having extensive experience in executive and internal communications, I would help enhance Geolance’s reputation in Ontario. I have a proven record of successfully meeting communications goals, whether they targeted audiences as diverse as consumers, citizens, or members of industry. This experience as a professional includes working collaboratively in a team environment to support organizational and business objectives. These skills helped lead the preparation of written communications material used by Ministers and MPPs in the Government of Ontario and many MPs, including Prime Minister Harper, to communicate with a wide variety of audiences across Canada. My employment history includes five years at non-profit associations. While employed at the Ontario Society of Professional Engineers (OSPE), I developed messages disseminated to engineers and policy-makers in government in the form of regulatory submissions, newsletter content and op-eds. At Advocis, The Financial Advisors Association of Canada, I wrote communications products for a variety of audiences including consumers, financial advisors and the media. This work included writing news releases, columns, op-eds, and editing an internal member newsletter for 10,000 members. In both roles, it was essential that I worked closely with the C-suite, Board members and volunteer leaders in the development of strategy and messaging for both organizations. Having worked in consulting for nine years prior to working in the Premier’s Office, I represented several companies and organizations primarily in health care at Queen’s Park. In this role, I assisted clients in disseminating compelling messages to key decision-makers in government. Having worked in corporate communications roles for many years, I would bring an excellent foundation to meet and exceed expectations as Public Affairs Director with Geolance.
