WordPress has officially released their latest version of WordPress (version 4.5) which is currently available for download/upgrade via your websites' admin panel. The release comes with various bug fixes and new features like an inbuilt distraction-free writing mode, customizable aspect ratios for post formats, revamped visual editor, etc., We at WPShout would love to share some interesting facts about this new update that you may find useful…

You can now easily convert your blog into a podcast using the built-in support for audio/video media players. Now you can manage all information related to podcasts directly from your site's admin area. You can also use enhanced support for <code> shortcodes to easily embed audio and video content from other services like Soundcloud, Vimeo, etc.,

As the name suggests, this new feature allows you to provide users with an option to view posts in a distraction-free environment. This mode is now available for both desktop as well as mobile devices so that your visitors can benefit from it no matter what type of device they use! You can make use of this feature by adding the following line of code into your theme's functions.php file:

add_theme_support( 'distraction-free' , array ( 'post' , 'page' ));

This plugin will automatically resize post formats according to their aspect ratio. You can select any one or more formats from the drop-down menu and then configure it for your site.

This new version comes with a couple of minor changes in the way default post formats are displayed on your blog, so if you had added any sample data into your custom fields then that stuff will automatically get deleted after upgrading to WordPress 4.5. But this is just a one-time activity because future posts will have respective formats applied to them by default. Well, no more practice is required for improving your social media sharing skills! You can now easily share images/photos or videos from third-party sites like Instagram, YouTube, etc., directly from within WordPress' dashboard itself!

When writing a new post using this new interface, you will see an option called 'Use Visual Editor' that allows you to use a dedicated interface for writing posts. You can toggle between the two interfaces by clicking on the pen icon next to the 'Use Visual Editor' button.

In previous versions, WordPress did not have an inbuilt option for adding social sharing buttons on your blog so one had to install a plugin for this purpose. But now you can easily add share buttons for Facebook, Google Plus, Twitter, and others from within your blog's admin area! This is how it looks:

As of now, there are many bugs present in the new update which may affect your overall blogging experience while some features might not work as intended or expected, these issues will surely get resolved with time because WordPress always works hard to provide its users with bug-free experience. Try out this new update and share your thoughts about it in the comments section below…

The Web is buzzing about the latest release of WordPress -- version 4.5, "Coleman."  With this release comes many new features that are sure to improve how users engage online.  Today we'll discuss what you need to know about the new features for social media marketers, including one big change that will impact your custom shortcodes (and possibly others).

Priority Sw Are Gone! The best news first: many of us who make a living from creating custom shortcodes in WordPress themes and plugins will no longer have to worry about our precious work being lost or overwritten. The reason? One of the most widely-reported issues—a bug affecting users' ability to upgrade from older versions to 4.5—has been fixed as of this morning.

What's In a Name? A New Editor Interface This update also enables two editor modes for both posts and pages: an inline mode that allows content creation without opening a new window, and a distraction-free mode that hides all elements except the text itself until you click on the "Show" button. Here's a look at how it works:

The other headline news in this update is the introduction of a new visual editor.  WordPress has been criticized for not having an attractive editor, especially when compared to other content management systems that are popular with bloggers.  The new interface not only makes it easier to write posts through its clean, streamlined view but also allows you to insert photos and links more easily.

We have good news for social marketers who are fans of WordPress's custom shortcodes. Customized features are here to stay! The "distraction-free" editor however will disable all shortcodes -- meaning users will no longer be able to place them in their content until they're switched back on by developers.

The New API Allows Better Sharing Another great tool available to developers is the new JavaScript widget for sharing posts.  This new feature allows social marketers to include more share buttons in their content, which could lead to higher click-through rates for individual posts.

Take It For a Spin Although WordPress recommends applying this update when you're "ready to publish" it's best if you test your site first before releasing 4.5 into the wild -- just in case your theme or plugins are not compatible with it. If you don't want all users to have access immediately, you can go back to using version 4.4 while you test the waters on 4.5 -- simply follow these instructions.
