Artificial Stone Mason responsibilities include:
- Sawing, trimming and polishing blocks of stone to create the desired shape using hand tools or power tools
- Shaping slabs of stone into prescribed shapes using a variety of hand and power tools
- Chiseling stones to create decorative features like cornices, fireplaces, fountains and mantelpieces
- Installing finished products like countertops, floors, showers and walls
The ideal candidate will have experience with studying blueprints and sketches to determine the dimensions of the stone required. They will also be able to work independently and be detail-oriented. Artificial Stone Mason skills:
- Proven experience as a mason or apprentice
- Experience with power and hand tools
- Ability to read blueprints and sketches
- Attention to detail
- Physical strength and stamina
- High school diploma or equivalent; certification from a vocational school is a plus
