Electrician - Rail Transport

Electrician - Rail Transport responsibilities include:

• Diagnose malfunctioning systems, apparatuses and components, using test equipment and hand tools, to locate the cause of a breakdown and correct the problem.
• Connect wires to circuit breakers, transformers or other components.
• Inspect electrical systems, equipment and components to identify hazards, defects and the need for adjustment or repair and to ensure compliance with codes.
• Advise management on whether continued operation of equipment could be hazardous.
• Test electrical systems and continuity of circuits in electrical wiring, equipment and fixtures, using testing devices such as ohmmeters, voltmeters and oscilloscopes, to ensure compatibility and safety of system.
• Plan layout of electrical wiring, equipment and fixtures, based on job specifications and local codes.
• Maintain or repair electrical equipment and systems so that they continue to work safely.
• Investigate complaints from customers about electrical service or equipment.
• Read technical diagrams and blueprints.
• Perform physically demanding tasks, such as digging trenches to lay cable or climbing ladders and scaffolding.
• Work in confined spaces or awkward positions.
• Work in all weather conditions.
• Be available for callouts 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

The ideal candidate will have experience with assemble, install, test and maintain electrical or electronic wiring, equipment, appliances, apparatus and fixtures, using hand tools and power tools. Electrician - Rail Transport skills:

• At least 3 years of experience as an electrician
• Ability to read technical diagrams and blueprints
• Experience with assemble, install, test and maintain electrical or electronic wiring, equipment, appliances, apparatus and fixtures
• Detail-oriented
• Self-starter
• Strong interest in electrician
