Motion Picture Camera Operator responsibilities include:
- Operating cameras to capture images or footage of people, settings and events
- Adjusting camera settings to control lighting and image quality
- Selecting and assembling equipment, including tripods, lenses and filters
- Collaborating with the director or producer to discuss sequences, angles and shots
- Studying scripts to understand the production requirements
- Previewing recorded footage to determine if it meets the director's or producer's needs
- Editing recordings using computer software programs (e.g. Avid Media Composer)
