Optics Technologist responsibilities include:
- Researching and designing new optical products, such as lenses, telescopes, microscopes and fiber optics
- Investigating the properties of light and other forms of electromagnetic radiation
- Planning and conducting experiments to test the performance of prototype designs
- Collaborating with engineers and other scientists to select appropriate design solutions
- Using computer-aided design (CAD) software to produce designs
- Interpreting results from tests and experiments
